Google Fonts Pixelated

Posted on Apr 11, 2011 in New Post | 4 comments

Being able to add Google Fonts to any website is pretty awesome. If you are like me though and are working on and viewing websites from a PC, you might have a different view on that. The way that a PC renders a font can be very different from the way a Mac does. If you are on a PC you may have noticed that your fonts look very pixelated no matter what browsers you look at them in. I recently found a way around this by adding this little hack.

h1 {
font-family: “Google Font”, serif;
text-shadow:0 0 1px transparent;
}
By adding a 1px shadow to your fonts you can easily mask that ugly pixelated look.

  2. when i put this in my css it did not work. I would really appreciate it if you could help me figure out why. I have spent so much time already on this issue and its driving me insane! Like you said i love google fonts, but on a pc it just looks horrible…please help!

  3. This is really helpful. I agree it’s terrific being able to make the sites look more stylish, but there is a definite compromise with rendering. We’ll try this – Cheers
